An ART Taster Workshop for Indigo Shire young people aged 12-24years.

Talented local artist, Valerie Crosse shared her passion for portraiture with participants using a variety of mediums including charcoal, pencil, paint and more. 

Participants begun by looking at ways in which artists have represented themselves and included symbolic points of interest to create a dynamic self-portrait.

Session Plan

Step 1: Students will learn the art of constructing a face
Step 2: Followed by using charcoal to pursue the art of adding tonal qualities.
Step 3: Students will practice drawing each other from life
Step 4: Students will then draw themselves using a mirror
Step 5: Students will then plan and compose 3 self-portraits as thumbnail sketches
Step 6: Students will complete a final artwork using acrylic paint on canvas paper using their thumbnail sketch as a starting point.

 

Workshop Details

  • A maximum of 15 participants will ensure a supportive session to create unique artwork.
  • All supplies and lunch will be provided.
  • Each participant will create their own artwork to take home
  • Participants will need to bring in images of their favourite things e.g. animal, star sign, landscape
  • FREE workshop for young people ages 12-2
