Past Event - Emerging Artists Stage at Yackandandah Folk Festival

Once again, the dedicated volunteers behind the Emerging Artists Stage at the Yackandandah Folk Festival created an incredible platform for young local artists to be seen and heard. Performers from across the region took to the stage with enthusiasm, talent and confidence, delivering a vibrant program that truly showcased the depth of youth creativity in our community. We were blown away by the quality, skill and bravery of these young performers.

Our Youth Advisory Group also played a key role in bringing the space to life on Saturday, hosting a Teen Lounge where young people could relax, connect and enjoy the music. With free hat and tote bag decorating, alongside music quizzes, the lounge offered a fun and welcoming hub that kept the energy going throughout the day.

In the lead-up to the event, we also supported young people to build their skills and confidence to participate through a series of workshops:

  • A songwriting masterclass with Liz Stringer, delivered in partnership with the team from the Old Stone Hall, Beechworth. Three participants from this workshop went on to perform on the Emerging Artists Stage.
  • A two-day Live Sound Workshop in Yackandandah, where participants gained hands-on experience. One participant then had the opportunity to work alongside the sound engineer at the Emerging Artists Stage.

Together, these opportunities not only enriched the festival experience but also helped foster the next generation of performers and creatives. Congratulations to everyone involved.
