Our Stories, Our Place: Community Mapping Project

Part of Stronger Together: A Community Cohesion Initiative

2 March - 24 April 2026 | All Four Library Branches

What makes a place feel like home? What memories live in the streets you walk? Which corner of our shire holds your heart?

Our Stories, Our Place invites you to share the answers. This interactive project features large-scale maps at all four library branches where you can mark meaningful places, share memories, and reveal the personal connections that bind you to Indigo Shire.

But here's the thing - this project is only as rich and vibrant as the stories you bring to it.

We can't wait to hear from you. Whether you've lived here for generations or just arrived, whether your story is about a favourite tree, a childhood adventure, a quiet moment of belonging, or a place that changed everything - your experience matters. Every post-it note, every story card, every mark on the map adds another layer to our collective narrative, revealing the diverse experiences and unexpected connections that make our community whole.

Drop in anytime during library opening hours to explore what others have shared and add your own voice. Use words, drawings, or whatever feels right to you. There's no single way to contribute - just your way. Watch as the maps come alive with the stories of neighbours you know and many you've yet to meet, discovering the threads that connect us all.

This is your invitation to be part of something bigger than any one story - a living document of community memory, identity, and belonging.
