Community Firewood Collection Program 2026

On Display Indefinitely

We’re excited to announce the return of the Community Firewood Collection Program for 2026, delivered in partnership with Corrections Victoria. This program supports eligible Indigo Shire residents by providing one cubic metre of firewood per property, free of charge.

Firewood can be collected from the Beechworth Transfer Station (1620 Diffey Road). Please note that no deliveries are available this season - collection only.

Places are strictly limited to the first 50 eligible community members, so we encourage early applications.

Who is eligible?

To take part, you must:

  • be an Indigo Shire resident
  • hold a Pension Card or Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) Card
  • provide your card number when applying

How the program works

Once you apply and secure a place, you’ll be added to the waiting list. Corrections Victoria will contact you when a load of firewood is ready for collection. Collection dates will vary depending on availability.
