Parks and gardens

Our staff take pride in presenting public parks and gardens for your enjoyment. Many include historic trees and memorials, as well as beautiful walking tracks or waterways including Lake King and Lake Sambell.

Below is a list of the major parks and gardens in our Shire:

  • Sir Isaacs Park, Yackandandah – playground, short walking track to skate park facilities, barbecue and picnic facilities, public toilets and rotunda
  • Memorial Park, Yackandandah – seating, war memorial and rotunda
  • Town Hall Gardens, Beechworth – gardens and historic trees, fountain, seating, war memorial and rotunda
  • Queen Victoria Gardens, Beechworth – playground, short walking rack, historic cannons, barbecue and picnic facilities and public toilets
  • Lake Sambell, Beechworth – lake, playground, short walking track, Rail Trail nearby (Beechworth to Everton), boat ramp, fishing, Chinese Gardens, barbecue and picnic facilities, public toilets and a sandy beach swimming area
  • Martin Park, Chiltern – playground, short walking track, barbecue and picnic facilities and seating
  • Memorial Park, Chiltern – war memorial and seating
  • Indigo Creek Park, Barnawartha – playground, barbecue and picnic facilities, and public toilets
  • Memorial Park, Barnawartha – war memorial and seating
  • Swimming Pool Park, Tangambalanga – playground, barbecue and picnic facilities, public toilets and public swimming pool (next to park)
  • Morley Drive Playground Reserve, Wahgunyah - playground
  • Apex Park, Rutherglen – playground, short walking track (Lake King), barbecue and picnic facilities, public toilets and junior bike track
  • Memorial Park, Rutherglen - war memorial, majestic trees and rotunda.
