Yackandandah Planned Burn

Forest Fire Management Victoria (FFMVic) and the Country Fire Authority (CFA) advise that the Yackandandah - YACR-9 Racecourse Rd planned burn, located 1.1km east of Yackandandah, may be ignited at any time within the next 7 days, depending on suitable weather and site conditions.

Crews are actively monitoring fuel moisture levels and conducting safety checks. If conditions are not suitable, the burn may be postponed. Some burns are completed in stages, so crews may return later to finish work - residents will be notified if this occurs.

What to know

Smoke:

  • Smoke may be heavy and travel long distances, especially overnight in low-lying areas.
  • Avoid physical activity during smoky conditions and keep windows and doors closed.
  • If you experience symptoms from smoke exposure, seek medical advice or call NURSE-ON-CALL on 1300 60 60 24.

Road Travel:

  • Smoke may reduce visibility.
  • Firefighting vehicles will be active in the area - please obey all traffic signs and crew instructions.
  • Check road conditions at VicRoads Traffic.

Restricted Access:

  • Access to forests, parks, reserves, and roadsides may be restricted before, during, and after the burn.
  • Be prepared to change plans and avoid burn areas until declared safe.
