We’re proposing the permanent closure of the laneway between Conness Street and Greens Lane in Chiltern.
Background
The laneway has been temporarily closed to traffic for several months after a vehicle crashed into a business premises at the Conness Street end. During this closure period, necessary repairs to the affected property have been completed.
Proposed action
Council is now considering the permanent closure of this laneway to vehicular traffic through the installation of bollards at both ends of the lane. Under this proposal:
- Vehicular access would be permanently restricted
- Pedestrian access would be maintained
- Cyclist access would be maintained
- Other foot traffic would continue as normal
Consultation process
Council has already consulted with:
- Adjacent landowners in the immediate vicinity
- Emergency services
We’re now seeking feedback from the broader community on this proposed permanent closure.
