Residents across Indigo Shire are invited to connect, create and celebrate as the 2026 Indigo Seniors Festival brings a diverse program of activities, workshops, talks, tours and social events to communities throughout October. The festival offers a wonderful opportunity for older residents to try something new, learn new skills, share experiences and build connections with others.

This year's program features something for everyone, from creative workshops and gardening activities to local history presentations, museum experiences, social gatherings and hands-on demonstrations. Events will be held across the Shire, including Beechworth, Chiltern, Rutherglen, Yackandandah, Barnawartha and Sandy Creek, making it easy for residents to take part close to home.

Highlights include a Mindful Art Workshop at Chiltern Library, a Hanging Mossball Workshop, the ever-popular Dumpling Making Workshop, a special Morning Tea with Songstress Maidie Dawson, and a range of fascinating heritage experiences through the Burke Museum and local history sessions in Beechworth and Rutherglen. Community members can also enjoy social activities such as croquet, morning teas, a seniors lunch and opportunities to connect with local groups including Indigo U3A.

Whether you'd like to attend a single event or fill your calendar with festival activities, the Indigo Seniors Festival is all about celebrating community, lifelong learning and meaningful connections. Residents are encouraged to explore the program, invite a friend and discover the many opportunities to connect, create and celebrate throughout the month.
