Rutherglen Silo Precinct Business Case and Concept Plan

The Rutherglen Silo Art Precinct Project was funded via the State Government's Investment Fast Track Fund and included the development of a comprehensive business case and concept design for a transformational tourism project - the Rutherglen Silo Arts Precinct - delivering essential elements of a shovel-ready infrastructure project.

The report delivers the necessary foundation rationale, costings and documentation to support future infrastructure related funding applications.

It is envisaged that the Silo Precinct will create an aesthetically beautiful outdoor centrepiece for the enjoyment of visitors and the local community, adjacent to and flowing from the Main Street of the town in a currently underutilised area of central Rutherglen. It will become a vibrant and attractive space right in the heart of town, a space where community choose to congregate, spend time and attend, participate in or create events, art installations, light projections, silo art, festivals, markets and activities. As well as being a striking ‘Insta-worthy’ trailhead for the Rutherglen to Wahgunyah leg of the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail and the new Rutherglen Wine Walk Cycle Trail development.

The Rutherglen Silo Art Precinct Business Case and Concept Plan was adopted by Council on Tuesday 28 February 2023.
