Updates for Industry

Fire Ready

fire ready image.PNG

“If a bushfire starts near your business, you and your employees may be under pressure to ensure the safety of yourselves and others. Understanding your risks and responsibilities, and planning what you will do now will help you respond in the best possible way.”
Tourism Business Fire Ready Kit, CFA

The increased fire danger period is upon us and now is the time to prepare yourselves and your business for a possible fire emergency. Many of our operators will also need to consider guests who are staying with you when an emergency starts or planning to travel during this time.

We implore you to read the Tourism Business Fire Ready Kit(PDF, 1MB) and prepare your bushfire plan. Then educate and practise this with your team to ensure that if a fire emergency does occur you can protect your people and your assets.

Indigo Shire Council’s Code Red Day Policy is available for you to read here(DOCX, 93KB). It is important to note that a selection of Council run services are closed on declared Code Red days. To keep up to date download the VicEmergency app onto your phone, with notifications turned on and like Indigo Shire Council on Facebook.

5 Minute Facelift

In November we released a 5 Minute Facelift, designed to lift your ATDW business listing to its full potential. This toolkit can be downloaded below and in just five minutes you can identify areas in which your ATDW listing needs a tweak and map out how to complete them. The information we receive from this toolkit will aid us in the development of group skills workshops.

Digital Skills Development Survey

Tourism North East have engaged Fiona Morris as their Digital Skills Development Manager. Fiona’s role is to work with industry to raise their digital skills whether it is to have an active Facebook, a stellar ATDW listing or tips on how to have an engaging website Fiona is keen to help. To kick start her plans for the next 12 months of development programs Fiona has put out a survey, this can be completed here

Council’s tourism team will continue to work with industry on digital development and ATDW listings, however Fiona is a great additional resource for us to have.
