Do you want to be involved locally in planning and preparing for emergencies? Do you have a passion for planning for and protecting your community?
Indigo Shire Council’s Municipal Emergency Management Planning Committee (MEMPC) is seeking expressions of interest from up to two interested community members to become part of the committee. As part of the MEMPC you will help your community to mitigate, plan for and respond to any emergency that may take place and become integral to the preparation of the Municipal Emergency Management Plan.
About the Municipal Emergency Management Planning Committee
The MEMPC is made up of representatives from the emergency services, Council, Department of Health and Human Services, Red Cross an other relevant agencies. The main role of the MEMPC is to prepare the Municipal Emergency Management Plan which is designed to plan for mitigation, response, recover and relief arrangements within the municipal area of Indigo Shire.
The MEMPC is seeking committed individuals and community leaders from the following areas:
- Community Service Clubs/Groups
- Education/School Camps
Key selection criteria
Expressions of interest will be assessed against the following selection criteria by a panel of Indigo Shire Council and MEMPC representatives:
- Demonstrated experience in community engagement/involvement
- Knowledge of broader emergency management issues in the municipality
- The ability to access networks and stakeholder groups within the community
- Experience facilitating/leading community-based committees
