About this project

Indigo Shire Council engaged Horizon Studio Landscape Architecture to develop a concept design for the roundabout in Rutherglen, at the intersection of the Murray Valley Highway and Murphy Street. The landscaping work is constrained by needing to maintain sight lines for traffic at this busy five way intersection. A contractor has been engaged and the work is due to commence in the near future.

Why is this project being undertaken?

The Rutherglen roundabout is a key focal point when entering the town and an upgrade of the Roundabout landscaping will provide a more welcome entrance to the town. This has been made possible due to Local Roads & Community Infrastructure funding.

What is happening and when?

The work has been tendered and awarded to KR Hoysted Construction. Landscaping and construction is due to commence later this year, with a date to be confirmed. The works will include brickwork, new exposed aggregate concrete, upgraded irrigation system, repairs to the kerb and channel and new plantings.

What will be the impact of these works?

There will be traffic control in place and may be minor delays to traffic during the construction works.
