Registering your dog or cat

German Shepherd dog

1. Overview

All dogs and cats must be microchipped and then registered with council by the age of three months.

All animals must be microchipped before registration with council for the first time.

Once your dog or cat is registered, they receive a lifetime Council identification number.

When not on the registered premises, your pet must wear a pet identification tag that is engraved with "Indigo Shire Council" along with the identification number provided. We suggest that this is on the reverse side of a standard tag with your pet's name and your phone number.

Lost tags

We are currently reviewing our capacity to provide new and replacement tags for pet owners. In the meantime, please ensure that your pet has a tag as outlined above.

*The owners of a dog or cat who fail to register their animal, or renew the registration, may be liable for a fine in excess of $363.00.
