Once your dog or cat is registered, they receive a lifetime Council identification number. It is also compulsory to microchip your pet.

Registration must be renewed by April 10 each year. This date is set by the Domestic Animals Act 1994 and not by us.

The owners of a dog or cat who fail to register their animal may be liable for a fine in excess of $317.

A child's dog or cat must be registered in the parent's or guardian's name (must be over the age of 18 years).

All cats and dogs are required to wear a registration tag when not on the registered premises.

You must purchase a Pet Identification Tag when registering your animal for the first time. The tag will be engraved with the relevant details for your animal including your lifetime Council identification number.
