Age Friendly Victoria Grant

We have received an Age Friendly Victoria grant from the Victorian Department of Health and Human Service (DHHS).

The aim of the grant is to help rural and regional communities develop ideas for seniors to live happier and healthier lives.

The project will be split into two phases: consultation and project implementation. This grant will build on our commitment to age-friendly communities as demonstrated by the above declaration.

Age-friendly communities encourage active ageing and optimise opportunities for good health, social and economic participation and personal security. They recognise the great diversity of our older population, promote inclusion of older people and respect their decisions and lifestyle choices. Indigo Ageing Well will involve service providers, businesses, community leaders and older and younger people in planning to meet ageing-related needs and aspirations.

In August 2016, our Council signed the Victorian State Government and Municipal Association of Victoria's (MAV) Age Friendly Victoria Declaration. The declaration was a significant step for us to show our commitment to working towards a community where residents can grow old happier and healthier.
