Indigo Creek Road Upgrade
- Project typeRoad Reconstruction
- Project value$537,000 ($358K Victorian Government contribution)
- Completion Date30 June 2020
About this project
The project, which will be partly funded from council's 2019-20 capital works program, will result in significant improvements to a 1.5km section of Indigo Creek Road from Johnson Lane to near the Beechworth-Wodonga Road intersection.
It is also proposed to upgrade the existing section of guard fence and install some additional short lengths to improve safety along the road. The intersection with Johnson Lane will also be improved and sealed for approximately 10-15 metres.
Why is this project being undertaken?
This section of Indigo Creek Road has numerous pavement failures and significant roughness throughout, along with a number of unprotected roadside hazards close to the edge of the traffic lanes.
What is happening and when?
Initial survey and concept design works have been completed and project officers are finalising detailed designs in consultation with stakeholders.
What will be the impact of these works?
When complete, these works will improve the safety and ride quality of this 1.5km section of Indigo Creek Road.
During the planning stages you may see surveyors out for a day or two in the road reserve with some reduced speed limits in place for their safety.
Whilst every effort will be made to minimise disruption there will be a need to have speed and lane restrictions in place for an estimated 4-6 week construction period to allow the works to be completed safely. Access to properties will be maintained throughout the works although it is likely that property driveways within the project area may need to have minor upgrades to match in with slight changes in road level. This will be reviewed with any affected residents notified well in advance of any works.
