About this project

The project scope includes drainage improvements through the extension of major culverts, road widening, pavement strengthening and sealing of approximately 200 metres of gravel road.

It is also proposed to create a section of off-road gravel bike path to provide safer access to the Beechworth Mountain Bike Park.

Why is this project being undertaken?

The works are included in Councils 2019-20 capital works program and are being undertaken to improve safety for motorists and cyclists using Alma Road.

This particular section has a curve with adjacent drop off road hazards (major culverts) and a slope leading up to the Mountain Bike Park.

What is happening and when?

The major culvert upgrades are almost completed. Road pavement works will commence in the second week of March, with the bitumen seal planned for the following week.

The off-road bike track is the final component of the project and will be constructed prior to re-opening the road.

How will these works affect me?

These works are designed to improve safety for all road users.

While every effort is being made to minimise disruption there will be speed and lane restrictions in place until the end of March.
