Water aerobics, yoga, pickle ball, social cricket and junior mountain biking are just some of the ways community members will be able to get more active thanks to funding from Indigo Shire Council.

At last night’s Council meeting, Indigo Shire Councillors voted to award a total of $30,000 to eight community groups and sporting clubs as part of the inaugural Get Active Indigo grant program.

Indigo Shire Council Mayor said the funding would help support health and wellbeing in Indigo Shire.

“This is the first time we have offered funding through the Get Active Indigo grants program, which was created following recommendations made in the Active Indigo Recreation Plan.

“The aim of the program is to increase participation in physical activity and support local groups to deliver a diverse range of recreation programs.

“We were looking for innovative ideas to help get the community get more active and we had a fantastic response with applications from across the shire.

We are pleased to be able to fund some diverse programs for young and old and I look forward to seeing what the grant recipients will achieve in the coming year,” said Cr Gaffney.
