Dark Skies

Did you know light pollution is the fastest growing pollutant around the globe? Light is very handy and necessary for us humans, but too much of it can also cause problems. Too much light can interrupt our circadian rhythms and disrupt how nocturnal animals navigate. Dark Skies that are less impacted by light are necessary for star gazing and are fast growing in tourism appeal.

We are lucky in Indigo Shire to have beautifully preserved dark skies. Hear from Indigo Environment Advisory Committee member, Peter Kenyon, in this short film about dark skies.
