Chiltern Courthouse Secures Grants Funding
Published on 08 September 2020
Chiltern Historic Courthouse has been successful in securing grant funding for an exciting heritage project.
With advice and assistance from Indigo Shire’s Burke Museum and Cultural Heritage team, Courthouse volunteers have secured $7,000 from the Public Record Office of Victoria Local History Grants Program.
The grant will fund a series of ten interpretive panels in the heritage building, each of which will present stories from the Court’s history.
Many fascinating stories will be covered by the new interpretation, including the 1878 warrant signed at Chiltern for Dan Kelly’s arrest which was an important milestone in the events surrounding the Kelly family.
The project aims to grow visitation to the Court, and make its history more accessible for education groups, community and visitors.
