Removal of timber and mulch expressions of interest

On display until 31 January 2022, 02:00 PM

We are making a selection of previously removed timber and mulch from our street and park trees available to the wider community.

We recognise the potential to better utilise this resource, so we are offering the opportunity for individuals, community groups, businesses or organisations to make use of the salvaged timber and mulch by registering their interest in specific lots/products.

Please note the following:

  • Timber is ungraded and is not structurally certified
  • Timber will be ‘as seen’
  • Indigo Shire Council will not be liable for any unforeseen costs, mulch is not accredited and will be provided ‘as seen’
  • Mulch is a natural product made from collected garden waste. Accordingly, Indigo Shire Council does not provide any guarantees that it does not contain seeds, organisms, or other contaminants
  • Loading and transport of the logs and mulch will be at the successful tenderer/tenderers expense. Loading must be completed by an appropriate sized machine and equipment and unloading and transport will be at the recipients/contractors own risk
  • Loading and transport must be completed outside of transfer station operating hours and must be transported in accordance with any Department of Transport requirements, tie down/load restraint procedures etc
  • No cutting of timber product on site will be permitted

Inspection of the timber logs can be conducted at Beechworth Transfer Station and inspection of mulch can be conducted at Beechworth or Rutherglen on the following dates:

  • Beechworth Transfer Station 10am Monday 10 January 2022
  • Rutherglen Transfer Station at 10am Wednesday 12 January 2022
  • Or during transfer station opening hours

Successful applicants will be required to collect the timber and mulch at an agreed time from the storage site within 14 days of successful notification or as agreed with Council.

To ensure fairness and equity, all expressions of interest will be assessed using the following selection criteria:

  • Proposed timber/mulch use with higher weighting given to submissions that demonstrate the highest and best use of the timber/ mulch in the opinion of the panel. Indigo Shire Council may accept offers for low quality use of timber such as firewood and mulching.
  • Proposed timber/mulch benefits with higher weighting given to submissions with proposed timber/mulch use that have community and/ or environmental benefits.
  • Timber/mulch distribution with higher weighting given to local businesses/community groups that propose the end use of the timber to be retained within Indigo Shire.
