Pruning of the large liquid amber tree in Chiltern Memorial Park is scheduled to be completed as soon as possible after Easter (subject to contractor availability) and before ANZAC Day.
The tree poses potential risk after a number of limbs fell during recent strong winds. Until the works are completed, the area remains closed off to the public.
We engaged an independent arborist who has provided the following recommendations, which have been endorsed through our Planning Department:
"Undertake crown maintenance pruning – tidy broken stubs, remove hanging branches, reduce terminal weight on heavy lateral limbs. Minor reduction pruning to help balance the canopy, particularly exposed limbs."
The works will be very sensitive pruning works given the significance of the tree in the township and a partial road closure will be required for tower access purposes but interruptions to the travelling public should be minimal.
Any queries regarding these works can be directed to Councils Operations Team on 1300 365 003.
