Project Background

We are developing a Destination Management Plan (DMP) for Rutherglen and its surrounds, including Wahgunyah, Brimin, Gooramadda and Norong, to help target delivery of programs to grow the visitor economy and guide investment.

In developing the plan, we'll also explore what barriers to growth might exist and seek to identify ways in which they might be resolved.

Development of the plan

The development of the plan is well underway with local businesses consulted earlier in the year, and two workshops conducted recently with industry representatives such as Destination Rutherglen and the Winemakers of Rutherglen.

Have your say

Our online ideas board, which was developed with insight gathered from the workshops and focussed on six main themes; aspirations, values, what makes Rutherglen and surround unique, ideal visitors, gaps and opportunies and barriers and challanges, has now closed.

You can still share your ideas with us though by attending one of our drop-in sessions at the Rutherglen Visitor Information Centre.

Susannah Doyle, Manager Tourism and Chris Rose, TRC Tourism consultancy, will be on hand to meet with community members at the following times:

  • Tuesday 30 November 2.00pm - 4.00pm
  • Tuesday 30 November 6.00pm - 7.30pm
  • Wednesday 1 December 9.00am - 11.00am
