The Chiltern Equine Park Committee of Management, with support from Indigo Shire Council, is developing a Business Case to support the implementation of its Masterplan.
Input is being sought from horse riders, the local community and local businesses, to identify the broad range of benefits potential new developments and enhancements will provide.
The Chiltern Equine Park Business Plan will identify key health, social and economic benefits and this information will be used to support future funding applications, in the aim of securing financial support for project developments.
The Masterplan vision is to be a thriving multipurpose equestrian centre for Indigo Shire and the surrounding region and a centre the local community can be proud of.
The Masterplan aims to grow the region’s equestrian community, support a range of other recreation opportunities and be a valued local community facility.
The Masterplan development proposals include:
- New undercover multi-purpose arena
- New campdrafting arena, pony club arena, reconfigured trotting track and additional dressage arenas
- New horse wash and yards
- New community social/function spaces and clubrooms
- New toilet and shower block
- New water supply and septic installation
- New entrance, internal roadways and camping area
- Tree and vegetation planting
- Off leash dog area
Development of enhanced facilities and participation opportunities will reflect and address the changing and increasing demands of current and future users, and will ensure the site continues to provide maximum community value and future sustainability.
Clubs currently based at the park include Indigo Adult Riding, Chiltern and District Pony Club, Chiltern Rodeo and the Chiltern Harness Racing Trainers Association.
The park is also open to the general community and visitors for non-equestrian activities, including walking, dog walking, and stop-overs for those on long trips.
Have your say
We've developed three different surveys to assist in gathering feedback.
It is understood that different users of the park will have different points of view in regard to the proposed development plans, so the three surveys have been developed based on three main user groups:
- Horse riders
- Business owners
- General community members/non-horse riders
If you fall into more than one user group, you are welcome to complete whichever survey/s relate to you (e.g. you can complete multiple surveys).
The surveys will be open until 5pm Friday 1 October.
