Where are you located? Carlyle Cemetery, Wahgunyah (by appointment)
Tell us about the types of work you do: We maintain some gravesites, weeding, some gardening, headstone cleaning (non abrasives), visitor assistance, historical bios’ of interred, assisting with location of unmarked graves, highlighting the historical significance of the cemetery.
Tell us about how important volunteers are to your work: Very important, we maintain the historical thread of our pioneers and early settlement with the research and work we do. We share and assist with community.
What types of tasks do you need more volunteers for? Weeding, general grave maintenance where safe and appropriate, assist visitors and families locating lost interred. Research interred historical pioneers and their backgrounds, publish information about interred, highlight the historical aspects of the cemetery and its significance with early settlers.
