A number of financial support packages for businesses and individuals are available from the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments.

Support for Regional Victoria - 4 September

The below funds have been extended, once again to eligible regional Victorian businesses following the latest lockdown announcement on Saturday 21 August, 2021.

These funds will be paid automatically to eligible businesses that have previously received the payment.

Information will be available shortly for businesses that were previously not eligible for funds with automatic payments but now are. 

Business Costs Assistance Program 

Automatic payment of $2800 per week for eligible businesses to assist with ongoing business costs.

Licensed Venue Hospitality fund

Automatic payments of $5000, $10,000 or $20,000 per week in September for businesses that have previously received grants under the Licensed Hospitality Venue Fund 2021 or July Extension programs.

Payment amounts will be tiered according to a premises’ capacity: $5000 for a capacity of up to 99 patrons, $10,000 for 100-499 patrons, or $20,000 for a capacity of 500 patrons or more.

Small Business COVID Hardship Fund

Grants for small businesses that are not eligible for support under existing programs and have experienced at least a 70% reduction in turnover in a consective two weeks since 27 May 2021. 

COVID-19 Disaster Payments

Eligible workers who lose hours due to the lockdown will be eligible for support through the Commonwealth’s COVID-19 Disaster Payment, as will businesses that do not qualify for Victorian Government support programs because they are not registered for GST.

Victorian Events Support Package

For performers, suppliers and presenters of events cancelled between 27 May and 2 September 2021 due to COVID-19 restrictions. More information is available on Business Victoria.

COVID-19 Disaster Payment (for workers)

Recipients of this payment are advised that the ongoing eligibility is dependent on lockdown restrictions within your Local Government Area of residence or work. Recipients are encouraged to regularly check their MyGov account for communication received from Services Australia regarding their ongoing eligibility or need to reapply.

The Victorian Government has reached an agreement with the Federal Government that will provide payments to Victorian workers: 

  • Payments of $600 will be made to Victorians that lose 20 hours or more of work during the period of the lockdown 
  • Payments of $375 will be made to individuals that lose between 8-20 hours of work during the period of the lockdown 
  • There is no liquid assets test applied to receive these payments

Regional Travel Voucher Scheme

A further 80,000 regional travel vouchers valued at $200 each will be made available to Victorian's to travel across the state’s regions, when it is safe to do so.

Jobs Victoria Fund

Providing $250 million in wage subsidies, this fund aims to assist Victorian businesses to employ at least 10,000 people who are looking for work.

Seasonal Harvest Sign-on Bonus

Job seekers who take up a seasonal harvest job on a Victorian farm on or after Wednesday 17 February 2021 can apply for a Seasonal Harvest Sign-on Bonus. The $2,430 bonus is paid in two instalments:

  • Bonus 1: $810, after 10 days’ work within a 30-day period
  • Bonus 2: $1,620, after an additional 30 days’ work within a 90-day period.

You can only receive each payment once.
