Jobs Victoria Fund 

Providing $250 million in wage subsidies, this fund aims to assist Victorian businesses to employ at least 10,000 people who are looking for work.   
If you are a Victorian employer ready to take on new staff, the Jobs Victoria Fund can financially support you to employ people who have been most affected by the economic impacts of the pandemic.

Seasonal Harvest Sign-on Bonus

Job seekers who take up a seasonal harvest job on a Victorian farm on or after Wednesday 17 February 2021 can apply for a Seasonal Harvest Sign-on Bonus. The $2,430 bonus is paid in two instalments:

  • Bonus 1: $810, after 10 days’ work within a 30-day period
  • Bonus 2: $1,620, after an additional 30 days’ work within a 90-day period.

You can only receive each payment once.

We are continuing to support our hospitality businesses to expand their outdoor dining capacity during COVID restrictions. Support is still available, in a limited capacity, until 30 June 2021. Contact:

Outdoor Dining Project - what we've achieved so far

The highlights from the project to date (February 2021) include:

  • Temporary furniture installations, to replace hire furniture, for outdoor eating outside the old milk bar and bee school (corner Camp and Ford Streets) in Beechworth;
  • Temporary furniture installations including umbrellas, to replace hire furniture, for outdoor eating in High Street Yackandandah (supplied by local company Steel Road Custom Furniture);
  • 20 street performances across the four main townships during January as part of the entertainment program with the added bonus of supporting local artists after a challenging period during COVID where paid performances came to a standstill;
  • Indigo Ambassador program providing a visual presence on weekends in support of businesses, residents and visitors;
  • Refresh of planter boxes in Beechworth, Chiltern and Rutherglen to improve the street appeal and the outdoor dining/eating environment;
  • Minor streetscape improvements such as umbrellas in Gollings Square in Rutherglen
  • Appointment of a consultant (Regional Design Service in conjunction with Outsider Projects of Yackandandah) to undertake the streetscape audits and recommend streetscape improvements; and
  • Appointment of a consultant (Outsider Projects) to undertake the planning of the Rutherglen Outdoor Eating and Events space.

Looking ahead, activity will continue, including:

  • Revamp, including seating and umbrellas, of Martins Lane in Chiltern to facilitate additional outdoor eating capacity;
  • Streetscape Plans for Beechworth, Chiltern, Rutherglen and Yackandandah;
  • Implementation of streetscape plans including new barriers in Rutherglen to facilitate outdoor dining and other consultant recommendations;
  • Delivery of the entertainment program for March to June 2021;
  • Stage 1 construction of the Rutherglen Outdoor Eating and Events space; and
  • Additional furniture installations (Beechworth and Rutherglen) as identified.





COVIDSafe business

All businesses in Victoria are required to have a COVIDSafe Plan. Business Victoria have created a template for businesses to complete. It is reccommended that you update your plan routinely particulalry as changes are made to restrictions.

Tourism North East - Digital Skill Sessions

Tourism North East offer one-on-one and group digital skill development sessions on a variety of topics to enhance operators understanding of digital applications and their use within a tourism business. 

Developed by Digital Skills Manager, Fiona Morris, the group sessions cover common digital platforms and how they can support your business marketing and operations.

Buy From Beechworth 

An all in one e-commerce platform that enables retail businesses to sell online quickly and be part of an online retail campaign.

When choosing to sell online it can be difficult to select the right platform for your business and even more so to gain traction in the busy online retail space.

Buy from Beechworth is part of the Buy from the North East initiative, started in response to the COVID19 pandemic to promote retail options as one campaign, first to locals then to a state wide audience.

Quality Tourism Australia has developed a globally recognised accreditation program for businesses to take part in and be recognised as having COVID cleaning practices.

Businesses that display the COVID Clean Practising Business logo provide reassurance to visitors that they have developed and initiated business practices which are specifically aimed to maintain high hygiene standards within their business to stop the spread of coronavirus.

By joining this program, you will be supplied with customised cleaning checklists, a risk register and further resources to support staff training.
