Mosquito alert

On display until 31 January 2023, 09:00 AM

As we head into a very warm few weeks it is important to remember to be vigilant about mosquitoes.

We’ve been advised by the Victorian Health Department that Murray Valley encephalitis (MVE) virus has been recently detected in mosquitoes in northern Victoria.

If you’re out and about or near waterways this weekend and over the coming weeks, make sure you’re taking precautions to avoid being bitten:
  • Mozzies can bite through tight clothing. Cover up - wear long, loose-fitting clothing.
  • Use mosquito repellents containing Picaridin or DEET on all exposed skin.
  • Limit outdoor activity if lots of mosquitoes are about.
  • Use ’knockdown’ fly spray, mosquito coils or plug-in repellent where you gather to sit or eat outdoors.
