At its November meeting, Council endorsed the Draft Rutherglen Silo Precinct Business Case and Concept Design Report.

We're now inviting the community to review and provide feedback on the Draft Concept Designs via formal submissions.

We received State Government funding earlier in 2022 to prepare a business case and concept plan for the much talked about Rutherglen Silos Precinct.

The revitalisation of the Silos Precinct is a unique opportunity to enhance a highly strategic piece of land in central Rutherglen to support community and economic development, with the project seeking to drive growth in tourism, promote economic resilience and improve social outcomes for the community.

It also strategically aligns with the Indigo Shire Destination Game Changer 2023 Tourism Strategy, which highlights the need for landscape and amenity improvements to Rutherglen to optimise visitor appeal, grow tourism and identify priority investment projects.

Following extensive consultation with key stakeholders and the community in July 2022, the business case and concept designs illustrate the precinct as an aesthetically beautiful outdoor centrepiece, for the enjoyment of visitors and locals alike, adjacent to and flowing from Main Street and strengthening the link to the Rutherglen Visitor Information Centre and Rutherglen Wine Experience building.

The draft business case and concept design report is now on exhibition until Tuesday 31 January, 2023.
