Yackandandah Folk Festival
The first Yackandandah Folk Festival was held in March 1998 and was a one day event. Since then, the festival has been run over three days including many different events and activities for all ages and attracting artists of national and international standing.
Each year the old gold mining village is transformed and brought to life with colour, activity, and song as it hosts its annual Yackandandah Folk Festival.
The reason behind the festival’s growing success is the high level of artists it secures from all over the world and the small, intimate, venues they get to perform in.
President of the organising committee Mr Patten Bridge said artists like to play at the Yackandandah festival because they can get up-close to their audience.
Performers from countries including Australia, Germany, Canada, Greece, New Zealand, England, and Africa rock the village of Yackandandah each year.
Whilst the Yackandandah Folk Festival is growing bigger each year, organisers are dedicated to keeping it within the confines of the town’s unique environment.
The Yackandandah Folk Festival kicks off with the Opening Parade on Friday night, sensational performers for adults and children alike all weekend, a Saturday evening gourmet BBQ in Memorial Park, various workshops, and a Sunday monster market.
Every aspect of this festival is open to anyone who would like to join in, early bird tickets are available, and for more information please visit www.folkfestival.yackandandah.com.
