Rutherglen waste collection service
January 2006
Following a 3-month waste collection trial in Rutherglen a domestic waste/hard rubbish collection service will be established for the residents of the town.
The initiative is in conjunction with the Indigo Shire Council and the Rutherglen Lions Club.
Indigo Shire Council Mayor Cr Peter Graham said the service was available to residents of Rutherglen who did not have access to a vehicle or trailer to transfer waste to the Rutherglen Transfer Station.
He said the costs for this service would be charged at normal transfer station disposal fees plus a small service fee to be charged by the Lions Club to cover their transport costs.
“This is a wonderful collaboration with Council and a dedicated community service group to ensure residents in Rutherglen have access to these services,” he said.
“Sorted recyclable products, including metal and white goods, can be disposed of free of charge plus the service fee.
“Other waste including green waste and cardboard shall be charged at the standard applicable fee.”
Residents wishing to access this service are asked to contact the Shire office in Rutherglen either by calling in to the office in High St. Rutherglen or telephoning on 60 328206 to provide relevant contact details.
This information will then be passed on to the Rutherglen Lions Club and they will make the necessary arrangements to have the waste collected and transported to the Transfer Station.
Further enquires can be made by contacting Indigo Shire Council Waste Management Officer Mr Mark Greene at the Indigo Shire Council on (02) 60 281100 during office hours.
