Mayoral Christmas Message
December 2005
With the festive season upon us Council wishes to take this opportunity to thank all those in our Shire who continually give to their community throughout the year.
Indigo Shire Council Mayor Cr Peter Graham said the true meaning of giving was not found with presents under the Christmas tree but in those who tirelessly give up their time to volunteer at the local sports club, deliver meals on wheels to those in need or help at countless organisations.
He said without these dedicated and most often humble community members there would be many at Christmas who would not have anything to celebrate.
“Council thanks all of you who have been the one of many who make a difference everyday by helping those in our community who are in need of support,” he said.
“A particular thanks go to the outdoor staff who have worked tirelessly in the clean up effort after the two violent storms that have lashed the Shire.
“We would like to take this opportunity to wish all residents in Indigo Shire a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year.
“As the New Year approaches there is much to look forward to in the Shire and we urge everyone to take care on the roads whether it is visiting loved ones or ducking into town to pick up the Christmas supplies.”
Cr Graham said it was vital motorists didn’t drink and drive, didn’t speed and ensured they arrived at their destination to share the joys of Christmas with friends and family.
He urged people to take care and Council looked forward to serving the Indigo Shire in the New Year and working with the whole community to enhance the future success of Indigo Shire Council.
