Indigo Shire Heritage Award Winners

May 2006

The annual Indigo Shire Council Heritage Awards were presented on Friday evening (May 12) at the Chiltern Courthouse with all four Historic Towns across the Shire featuring in the winners.

Indigo Shire Council Mayor Cr Peter Graham said the night celebrated some of the magnificent heritage work that had been done throughout the Shire over the past year.

He said all award winners should be congratulated on their outstanding dedication to heritage and for their attention to detail.

“It was a wonderful evening that really put on show the heritage of Indigo Shire and the people who are willing to put in the time and effort to preserve our heritage,” he said.

“Feedback from the awards night had been terrific - both from those who received well deserved recognition in the awards and from others who attended for fun.

“To see so many people at the awards shoes the level of interest in heritage and how close it is to our hearts in Indigo Shire.”

Cr Graham said thanks should go to the Chiltern Tourism Association and Chiltern Community Centre Committee of Management.

He said the input from these groups both in organising before hand, and on the night, was what made the evening such a great success.
