Indigo Shire Capital Works List
January 2006
Indigo Shire Council is seeking community input on its capital works listing for future projects, in particular for works and priorities over the next three years.
Indigo Shire Council CEO Mr John Costello said Council maintained a large database of capital works projects for both those in the pipeline and those about to commence.
He said the list was constantly reviewed and added to which enabled Council to prioritise works in response to community needs and available funding and grants.
“The community is invited to view the list and submit feedback on the projects listed, to place additional projects on the list and to indicate the priorities for the towns,” he said.
“We are welcoming feedback and suggestions. It is vital that Council makes best use of available funds to meet community needs.
“Council will consider all suggestions and add them to the capital works list as appropriate and work towards providing improved facilities as budgets permit. When ideas are submitted to Council they are assessed on their feasibility, assigned a priority and once on the list they will be investigated in further detail.
“The capital works projects range from small projects worth $1000 to those involving $1 million of works. Examples of projects include the Tangambalanga Community Centre that came about through the community’s desire to have a new facility and through a process of community consultation to achieve its needs.”
Indigo Shire Council Assets Manager Mr Phil Prior encouraged the community to have a close look through the list and if they had any questions to contact him regarding their queries.
He said this way Council could hear directly from the relevant communities about what they wanted to see by the way of infrastructure in their towns.
“We will be circulating the full list and a breakdown for each town across the Shire,” he said.
Copies of the current Capital Works list will be circulated to all Customer Service Centres in Beechworth, Rutherglen, Chiltern and Yackandandah and other towns across the Shire.
Towns include Barnawartha Post Office, Huon Post Office, Kergunyah Store, Kiewa Store, Tangambalanga General Store and Wahgunyah Post Office.
Council welcomes comments on existing projects, additions, etc to the list. Further enquiries should be directed to Phil Prior, Assets Manager on 02 6028 1100.
