Indigo Shire Council's environmental health team play a vital and important role in protecting the health and wellbeing of the community and the environment.

The Environmental Health Officer's work is extremely diverse and varied and includes the:

-Inspection of food and other health premises.

-Assessment of applications to install different types of domestic wastewater systems.

-Investigation of health and environmental complaints.

-Infectious disease investigation.

Officers work closely with many other agencies including the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) and Department of Human Services in order to promote environmental health.
