Council has received a planning application for a New Quarry at Chiltern.

Stanley Athenaeum awarded federal heritage grant

Stanley Athenaeum has been awarded a $3,000 federal Community Heritage Grant to fund the “Stanley Athenaeum Significance Assessment Project’. The grant was announced at the National Library, Canberra, on Wednesday 11 November.

Original Kelly Gang armour set for Beechworth Ned Kelly Weekend 2010

The original suits of armour worn by all four members of the Kelly Gang at the siege of Glenrowan will feature as a major highlight of the 2010 Beechworth Ned Kelly Weekend from 6 – 8 August, the Beechworth Historical Re-enactment Group (BHRG) announced today.

Victorian planning laws relaxed for vegetation removal for bushfire protection

Following the 2008/09 bushfire season and in recognition of ongoing increased bushfire risk, the Victorian Government has amended the Victoria Planning Provisions for Indigo Shire to exempt from planning scheme and planning permit requirements, in regards to clearing land for bushfire protection.
