Your chance to shape your council's future direction
The Council plan document will be developed early in 2009 to guide the priorities and future direction of Indigo Shire over the next four years.
The survey has now closed. Survey results are being compiled and will be available to view shortly.
Council Chief Executive Officer, Brendan McGrath encourages everyone in the community to become involved in the Council planning process and provide feedback on a range of topics that include:
- Leadership of our people and our community
- Managing our built environment
- Growing our economic prosperity
- Developing sustainable communities (representative of the new organisational structure)
An electronic online survey has been developed. Council is asking that the surveys be completed by Friday the 16th January, 2009.
In addition to the online survey, Council staff and volunteers will be visiting each of the major towns asking individuals to complete a copy of the survey face to face. We ask everyone to take a few minutes to complete the survey and provide Council with as much information as possible.
In January 2009, Indigo Shire will also be conducting a number of community workshops that will be an ideal opportunity to discuss the preliminary results of the survey and further develop detailed discussion with the community about key themes or issues. A summary of the information will also be provided back to the broader community throughout the consultation process. The workshops will be held from 6.30PM to 8.30PM on the following dates:
- Wednesday, 21 January – Senior Citizens Club, Rutherglen (for Rutherglen, Wahgunyah and district)
- Thursday, 22 January – Senior Citizens Club, Chiltern (Chiltern, Barnawartha and district)
- Tuesday, 27 January – Town Hall, Beechworth (Beechworth, Stanley, Wooragee and district)
- Thursday, 29 January – Senior Citizens Club, Yackandandah (Yackandandah and district)
- Monday, 2 February – Community Centre, Tangambalanga (Kiewa/Tangambalanga and district)
The workshops will be followed by a light supper and participants have the opportunity to win fabulous prizes including dining and accommodation packages, an ipod and a digital camera.
The survey asks for individuals to register their interest in the workshops or the development of the Council Plan or alternatively Council’s Customer Service staff can be contacted on 03 5728 8000 or 1300 365 003.
