Report on Beechworth Office Workshop 22 May 2012

The attached report documents:

A presentation prepared by architects Jovaras Westland Partnership was also delivered to the workshop.

A Public Consultation workshop was held Tuesday 22 May 2012 at the Beechworth Memorial Hall to discuss the proposed designs for Beechworth Council Office Accommodation.

Indigo Shire Council had requested an independently facilitated workshop to enable the community to make further comment on the reviewed designs in the context of the site of the proposed Beechworth Council building (ie an extension to the current Council offices in Beechworth.)

The agreed purpose of the workshop was to:

  • Obtain specific feedback on Design Options A, B and C and the site of the proposed Beechworth Council Building
  • Listen to the concerns and issues of the community relating to the designs
  • Generate practical design feedback so that a design response can be made by the architectural team and provided back to Council.

Approximately 140 people attended the workshop. There were strongly expressed views against the entire proposal, and there was also engagement giving specific design feedback.
