Learn to Draw Historical Streetscapes (10-16 years)

  • With artist and sculptor H. Fish
  • 2pm-3.30pm Thursday 21 December 2017
  • H. Fish is the creator of props and artworks for Tim Burton's Batman and other films. He will teach you to draw the beautiful historical township of Beechworth streetscapes using perspective drawing techniques in our magnificent Street of Shops.

Cartooning for Juniors (7-11 years)

  • With cartoonist Adrian Osborne
  • 2pm-3pm Thursday 28 December 2017
  • Adrian "Oz" Osborne is famed for his ability draw a caricature in two minutes. Oz has drawn more than 48,000 cartoons at events across Australia.

Learn the Art of Cartooning (12-16 years)

  • With cartoonist Adrian Osborne
  • 2pm-3.30pm Friday 29 December 2017
  • Draw a comic strip based on stories from the museum collection. Adrian will combine these into a comic book after the two sessions, and each participant will receive a copy.

Song and Dance and History (6-10 years)

  • With Tijana Simic from Ladybird Education
  • 2pm-3pm Tuesday 2 January 2018
  • Come join us in a musical exploration of the Burke Museum with a little help from The Lady Birds. L'Bird Tijana and L'Bird Merri will pollinate the museum with the magic of music. There will be songs to sing and dance to about animals from the museum collection, perhaps even a song in Cantonese and a local Aboriginal language. Come and fill your afternoon with a historical dusting of song, dance and play!

Tales of the Riverbank (9-15 years)

  • Painting landscapes on gum leaves with Valerie Crosse
  • 2pm-3pm Thursday 4 January 2018
  • Alfred Eustace was a Beechworth icon, shepherd, poet and taxidermist. Eustace pioneered the technique of painting landscapes on gum leaves, and the Burke Museum has a wonderful collection of these. Come and see them, learn how he did it and paint yourself a tiny masterpiece!

Horses and Cars and Everything in between - Learn to draw! (6-18 years)

  • 2pm-3pm Tuesday 9 January 2018
  • With H. Fish, the creator of props and artworks for Tim Burton's Batman and other films. See how people got around Beechworth through history and learn to draw all manner of vehicles.

Learn to draw like scientists and explorers (12-18 years)

  • With Valerie Crosse
  • 2pm-3pm Thursday 11 January 2018
  • Scientists and explorers from the past used drawings to record the natural world on their expeditions across Australia. From plants to animals, fossils and gems, you can learn to draw these wonders like Ludwig Becker on the Burke and Wills expedition.
