Kiewa-Tangambalanga - help shape the future

Community leadership and input is the vital ingredient to ensure success for the Kiewa and Tangambalanga Placemaking and Structure Plans, the Indigo Shire Mayor, Cr Jenny O'Connor, said today.

She said the Placemaking Plan would find the community's vision for its future, and identify what support was needed to make it a reality.

"This process will ensure the future is well planned, well supported, economically vibrant, and sustainable," Cr O'Connor said.

"It is vitally important that everyone has an opportunity to have a say -- to share your input on the towns' future, identify practical steps to reach this future, and put your hand up to help bring your vision to fruition."

Cr O'Connor said two events have been scheduled to bring the community together to share ideas and stories:

  • Friday 9 February, 5pm-8pm at the Tangambalanga Pool. Free entry, barbecue and activities.
  • Saturday 10 February, 8am-12pm at the Tangambalanga Store. Share your ideas and thoughts.

"A consultation stall will be at community events and activities through February, and information, surveys and polls will be available online at and on Facebook," Cr O'Connor said.

Tangambalanga resident Lannelle Bailey is excited to have the opportunity to help shape the towns' future.

"This is a great opportunity to come together and talk about what is great about our towns, and then have that incorporated into future improvements," she said.

"It really is an exciting time where we can be heard, but also listen to what each of us have to share, and work together to make our towns even better."

Cr O'Connor said a Structure Plan to guide infrastructure, business and land use planning would be developed alongside the Placemaking Plan.

"There will be an opportunity later in February to discuss economic and business opportunities to hear the views of local business, trade, employment and commercial operators."
