Funding for 34 Community Projects

Council last night approved grants totalling $50,000 for a range of cultural, artistic and youth projects across the Shire.

Thirty-four organisations have shared in Indigo Shire Council's Community Grants package for 2017-18.

The Mayor, Cr Jenny O'Connor, said the response from the Community this year was extremely heartening.

"The Indigo Shire Community Grants and Awards Advisory Committee is made up of 11 voting members of the Indigo Shire community, and two Councillors. They received 52 applications in total, and carefully examined each of them before making their funding recommendations to Council," Cr O'connor said.

"The total value of the projects seeking Council support is more than $400,000, which indicates a vibrant and very active community sector right across the Shire.

"The committee is confident, as am I, that the successful applicants as well as those who missed out will complete their projects and provide positive benefits to the entire community.

"We wish all our Community Grants applicants every success."
