Have Your Say - Active Indigo 2018 - 2024

Indigo Shire Council is preparing an Active Indigo Plan for the next 8 years—this  plan will guide how we support the physical activity needs of our community.  We are working with Wendy Holland from communityvibe to do this. We want to know:

  •  How do we encourage people to be more active?
  •  What can Indigo Shire Council and the community do to improve recreation facilities?

Give us your feedback and go in the draw to win some great prizes including 5 x Indigo Shire Pool Season passes and 5 x $50 Rebel Sport vouchers.

communityvibe is working in partnership with Council to develop the five year plan.

ACTIVE INDIGO – UPDATE 27 SEPTEMBER 2017

Thank you to all who have completed the survey - we have had a wonderful response and value the suggestions to make Indigo more active. The survey has now closed and all consultation is wrapping up, we still have a few contacts to make and hard copy surveys flowing in.

        Community Engagement update

  • Survey results: We have had 380 responses so far to our online survey, a great result. We were a little low in responses from Rutherglen and Chiltern but following a concentrated promotional campaign, these results have improved.
  • Tailored engagement with over 90 sporting clubs and recreation groups either via phone, face to face, or particular groups.

        Interesting initial results

  • Walking, Bushwalking / Hiking, Swimming and Cycling were the 4 highest activities recorded.
  • Lots of feedback re: opportunities for skill /  knowledge sharing across committees and clubs.
  • 36% of people say they are physically active more than 7 hours per week!
  • The majority of survey respondents prioritise Council spending resources on improving existing sport and recreation facilities, the second highest response for resource expenditure was for activity programming.
  • Respondents were 67% female and 35% male.

        Next steps

  • Meet with the Active Indigo steering group to discuss issues and opportunties.
  • 06 November 2017: Executive Management Team Report with draft report.
  • 21 November 2017: Council Briefing with draft report
  • December 2017 - February 2018:  Community input opportunity into draft report.
