Street Trees - Elm Tree Treatments

Indigo Shire council has recently awarded the contract for the treatment of Elm Leaf Beetle for Council owned elm trees to Smiths Tree Services.

Smiths Tree Services will commence soil injection treatment from Monday 19/09/2011 as weather conditions allow.

Elm Leaf Beetle will soon become active with damaged foliage, particularly shot holes, being obvious to the naked eye as the activity progresses and the small striped beetle sometimes being found on the foliage.

While Elm Leaf Beetle will never be fully eradicated from Australia, this control method will help to reduce beetle numbers and prevent further serious damage to the tree.

Residents and local businesses who wish to have their own elm trees treated are asked to contact Smiths Tree Services on 0417 967 288 or fax on 03 5762 2216 to register their interest as soon as possible. The cost of Soil Injection Treatment will need to be directly negotiated with Smiths Tree Services as Indigo Shire will not be involved in those arrangements.
