What is happening in Bruarong?

The Community Strengthening Project kicked off in Bruarong in December 2009. Consultations took place with the Bruarong community, in particular the Bruarong Community Centre Committee.
A Community Planning Evening was held on Wednesday 13 January 2010 at the Bruarong Hall. Over a bite to eat Bruarong residents had the opportunity to discuss and prioritise some of the ideas that came from consultations.
Strong emphasis was placed on upgrades of the hall so it could be used to a greater extent as a community facility, also to connect residents more through newsletters and events. Community action teams will be formed for these priority projects, who will work with Community Strengthening Officers to carry out each of the priorities.
A Bruarong Community Plan has been prepared which summarises the different ideas and priorities and the steps taken to get the Bruarong Community Strengthening Project underway. For a copy of the Bruarong Community Plan, click the link below.

Bruarong Hall upgrade
A new kitchen, new toilet facility and new deck for the hall were constructed in 2010.
Additional grants were received from the Victorian Bushfire Appeal for a Bushfire Memorial, which has taken the form of a Memorial Wall which symbolises the events of the bushfires as well as acknowledges the history of the Bruarong area.
Community Development Officers have been working closely with the Bruarong Community Centre Committee to plan events for the Bruarong community. These are closely linked with the priorities identified by the community to use the hall as a hub for community gatherings, as well as keeping the Bruarong community more connected. These projects have been funded by the Victorian Bushfire Appeal.
This Community Plan is due for review. A review will commence on Saturday 13 April 2013, coinciding with a community meal. This meeting will be held from 6pm at the Bruarong Community Centre.
